To help you get to know headline exhibitor Canterbury, we caught up with Kate O’Meara : Account Manager, for an insight into this iconic brand.

 

Tell us a bit about the brand…

Canterbury is made for those who are Committed To The Game. With 114 years of heritage and credibility as a trusted sports brand, Canterbury not only provides style and comfort but is resilient and works with the body to produce optimum results on and off the field, in training and everyday life.

 

What is your targeted customer demographic?

It is predominately men, aged 25-50 years old – a sports player or enthusiast – or ex-rugby. They are looking for on and off-field clothing that offer comfort and performance.

 

What sets the brand apart?

The brand has been operating since 1904, so it has great heritage and recall with many generations. We also produce licensed product  for NRL, AFL, ARL teams both in Australia and New Zealand.

 

Tell us about the W19 range which will be showcased at FAB-event in August…

This is the first winter range specifically tailored to the Aust/NZ market for many years. Apart from our iconic polo range, it will also feature technical products.

 

What does the future look like for Canterbury?

With the whole fitness and activewear thrust, our focus will be on training gear – for the session, and post the session –  all while maintaining a link back to the brand heritage.

 

What advice would you give to a retailer?

Use core ranging and stock service product to your advantage! It is under-used in our brand, but lessens your risk. For the area we trade in, merchandising by category is king. The apparel, equipment and accessories need to be placed together for valuable add-on sales. It helps inspire the end consumer!
